On Thursday 2nd May, I went to Magne Furuholmen's "Norwegian Wood" exhibition, for the interest of my own art practice, but also with the intention of asking Apparatjik if they had time in their schedule to come to Lincoln.
I had the pleasure of chatting to Magne A himself, and Guy A, lamenting that I wasn't going to Copenhagen for Apparatjik's gig. The conversation gave many ideas for the Apparatjik project. Guy said he wasn't going either. Due to commitments with Coldplay, Guy doesn't usually perform with Apparatjik. It's usually a friend of Jonas' from Blue Foundation that looks a lot like Guy. A fake Guy! Then Magne told us that he was going, but then added that no one would really notice if it was just some bloke in a mask. 

At this stage, we don't need Apparatjik to come to Lincoln to perform in the LAN Light Space Modulator, we just need an Apparatjik simulacra.

This will be referred to as "The Lincoln Simulacrum". 

No one in Lincoln knows what Apparatjik is, so they won't notice if it's just four blokes in a mask.

 LAN : LAB is Lincoln Artists' Network Laboratory 

Lincoln Artists' Network have been developing a project for some time working with Apparatjik.

The Light Space Modulator
Apparatjik perform inside (and outside) a cube, referred to as the Light Space Modulator.

The EyeOn Committee have announced that other bands (and presumably artists) can create similar Light Space Modulator devices in other locations. 

The proposal is to create and construct an LAN LSM in which to exhibit works by local artists invited to contribute to an experimental LAN project.

 Outer Trial Bank / The Wash Incident 

Lincoln Artists' Network invite artists, animators, photographers, illustrators, etc to submit work in response to the mysterious Outer Trial Bank and The Wash Incident, where I was born in 1976.

LAN:LAB invites you to start your career in a parallel universe and work your way multidimensionally.

Lincoln Artists' Network hereby invites you to participate in The Outer Trial Bank / The Wash Incident to be exhibited at Norman St. Empty Shop Space in Sept - Oct 2013.

submit images of 1024 x 1024 pixels in size, and in jpeg format only. a maximum of 32 images per participant, to be submitted before march 1st, 2013

if selected by the LAN:LAB committee, your contribution will be shown alongside works of the others invited, and presented as a slide-show with multiple pixels projected on the apparatjik light space modulator. each image will randomly change place on the cube, thus creating unintended interstices
artists whose works are used will be credited with full name and the letter ‘A’ behind it, on lincolnartistnetwork.co.uk.
 and subsequent exhibitions is credited in all LAN publication in the same way.

for technical reasons all slides will be cropped to perfect squares. please send us a cropped image or accept that LAN:LAB crops your work without any restrictions.

Additionally, interest is sought from artists wishing to perform inside the Light Space Modulator, sound artists, retro game hackers, scientists, geeks and general wtfery. 

new website!

It's all been quite quiet around here since the end of last year!
The long, cold winter has meant a break from activity whilst applying and receiving some funding to cover overheads.

Following an article by Andrew Bracey about the arts in Lincoln, the LAN website has finally been updated, and is all new and shiny :-)

The Alternative Christmas Market is now officially over!

We made some extra sales during the extra weekend, and plenty of wishes for our artist led Yoko Ono Wish Tree.

We were also pleased with feedback from visitors, saying what a nice surprise it was, and what a lovely space it had become, so thanks to everyone that visited and enjoyed the Alternative Christmas Market, thanks to all the artists that took part and got involved for this artist led event, thanks to Revival for their continued support, and thanks to Revival Sing for bringing some Christmas Carol singing to the Alternative Christmas Market.

We hope to be back next year, hopefully with some funding next year, planning a much bigger and better event, so for now, we're off to put our feet up and drink some gløgg! Skål!

Alternative Christmas Market - day 4

Sunday was the best days, we made lots of sales, and were joined by Revival Sing, who came to sing Christmas Carols for us, which was lovely!

However, as we haven't made enough sales to cover our costs, we plan to continue the Alternative Christmas Market next weekend, Saturday and Sunday 15th / 16th Dec without the main Christmas Market to distract people looking for unique Christmas pressie ideas.
